How To Get The Right Copywriter For Your Business

Here’s the deal — if you want to sell something you need to persuade a prospect that they should buy from you.

You have to convince them that they should come to you for a product or service and not go elsewhere.

How do you persuade? With the words you say in your sales patter or, in the case of the web, magazines and direct mail… in print.

Which makes is strange that so many people completely ignore this vital aspect of their business.

Maybe it’s just a lack of knowledge. Or maybe they’re just plain lazy…

That excuse simply won't wash anymore… your copy is bang at the centre of everything you do.

Your sales letters, your emails, your videos, PPC ads etc. It has to be smothered in the dark arts of persuasion so your prospect cannot help but carry out whichever action you desire.

So now you have two options… you can pay a professional to do it for you, or learn how to do it yourself.

Which of those you choose all comes down to whether you’re willing to put cash or time into your business. And it’s a mistake to think that time is free, it isn’t… and you can't get it back. 

Hiring an online copywriter can be tricky business.

Every day a new “copywriter” appears proclaiming he has the skills to skyrocket your sales and transform your business. 

A lot of these guys are just starting out and realize you can’t “make it” in copywriting without a portfolio or some clients. So… buyer beware.

A good way to tell if they’re fakin’ it ’til they make it is the price they charge. Typically less talented copywriters charge below the $2000 range. Now, you may be lucky and get an up and coming whizz kid who just wants to build his portfolio. In which case, hang on to them!

More often than not though, you’ll end up with cut-price copy which delivers mediocre results.

If you want great copy you’re going to have to bite the bullet and spend at least $4-5000, much more for an excellent copywriter. But then…

Don’t think of it as a chunk out of your profits, think of it as an investment.

If I could make you $100,000 in the first 24 hours of a launch, you’d be happy to pay me $7000 right? I mean… I'd be the fool for charging too low!

The other option is to write the copy yourself and certainly, if you’re looking to sell product after product you could do with a knowledge of what will sell and what will be drop like like a broken elevator.

Be prepared for a thorough, painstaking education - though not necessarily and expensive one. Great copy books can be picked up on Amazon for less.

So there you have it, a great copywriter should be an essential component of your business. Don’t skimp on this and the results will take care of themselves…
