Perhaps the most important element of whether or not your e-book will succeed is the e-cover. For better or worse, because ebooks are so ubiquitous on the web, sometimes the only way to be competitive is to create a legitimate looking ebook cover. By using an ecover creator, you can easily and economically create an attractive looking ebook cover. You can also hire on a graphic artist to design your ecover, but that isn’t going to be cheap. Thirdly, you can opt to design the cover completely on your own. This is only advisable if you have a great sense of design. E-book readers really took off in 2009. These readers have been around for 10 years now – the Franklin eBookman was launched in 1999 – but it was the release of the Amazon Kindle 2.0, on the large format Kindle DX model in the summer of the same year, that seemed to launch both e-book readers and e-books onto the mainstream consumer market.  The Kindle quickly became Amazon’s number one selling product and, with the rapid growth in the e-book market, competing manufacturers either upgraded the existing readers or launched new ones to get their share of what was clearly a rapidly developing market.
